Three Acres, Hookwood, Surrey

Pulsar was delighted to hear that last week, Mole Valley District Council’s Planning Committee approved our client’s scheme for 22 residential units in Horley, Surrey.  The site’s existing permitted use is part residential, part B&B.

Pulsar initially conducted pre-application discussions with Surrey County Council (SCC) to ensure that the key transport principles could be agreed in advance of submitting the outline planning application.

The access proposals included provision of a “Copenhagen” style access as requested by SCC in order to accord with Healthy Streets principles.  Following further discussion with SCC, it was also agreed to incorporate a ghost island right turn bay into the site by locally widening Reigate Road in the vicinity of the site.  The highway alterations were also subject to a Stage 1 Road Safety Audit.

Pulsar undertook discussions with the highway authority, prepared the relevant highway drawings (including the design of the “Copenhagen” style access) and prepared a Transport Statement to support the planning application.

Pulsar also provided input into the masterplanning process which included a review of parking requirements, internal road layout and suitability of the site to accommodate larger vehicles through a swept path analysis review.
